Summer wedding in East Hampton

There is nothing like a summer wedding in East Hampton. I was out there a few weeks ago to capture a wonderful weekend. Pam knew she wanted to get married close to her parents home and had always loved the windmill at Mulford Farm.
They brought in the design team from Renny and Reed
who did the most amazing job with the flow of the outside space, the placing of the tents and the floral design.
The couple met before the ceremony to take the portraits and family photos so that they could spend the rest of the day with their family and friends.
After leaving the church the bride and groom lead the way over to cocktails. They took a quick side trip to have a few moments alone then it was back to guests and the celebrations.
Jill Gordon the event planner and her staff were a delight to work with.

Caroline Kennedy in Town & Country Magazine

The new edition of Town & Country just hit the news stands and I was really happy when mine arrived in the mail 2 days ago and I opened it up to see this photo I had taken of Caroline Kennedy at the Frederick Law Olmsted Awards lunch.
What can I say.
This has been a week of fabulous women on my blog all of whom make this world a better place to live in through their art, their careers, their philanthropy and as either mothers, daughters. sisters, friends or all of the above.
Each one has inspired me to work a little harder and do a little more.

Maryam Montague wearing Bouvier

It has been a month of photographing amazing women. A few weeks back while I was in Fez I got to do a portrait of Maryam Montague who was visiting Fez for the Sacred Music Festival. She has a great blog where you can find out all about her life in Marrakesh and beyond.  www.mymarrakesh.com

She was staying at the home of Rebecca Raft and PC the owners of Bouvier Australia.

Rebecca is the creative force and personally designs and also makes the amazing jewelry. I am a huge fan and so is Maryam.
Wearing her personal collection I took this photo on the roof of Dar Rafti just as the sun was setting.
It was hard to get Maryam to slow down even for 5 minutes. This amazing woman who is a human rights and democracy specialist also co owns and runs a boutique guest house Peacock Pavillions in Marrakech with her husband. She is also the mother of 2 and a writer and photographer. Did I mention she also published a book called Marrakech by Design?

Yayoi Kusama's Visit to NY for Louis Vuitton and The Whitney opening

It was an amazing 3 days last week following the every move of Yayoi Kusama as she returned to New York after leaving 29 years ago to go back to Japan.
What an inspiration she was.
She started with a visit to the museum to see her work in the galleries, followed by the opening of the window display at the Louis Vuitton Store on 5th ave, then a visit to the Louis Vuitton pop up store in Soho, a trip to Pier 45 where one of her sculptures was gracing the grassy pier, a trip to Gagosian for a visit and a film interview and a final trip to the Whitney to say hello to the staff and patrons.
There were many amazing moments along the way.
I helped Steve Eichner from WWD by standing in for a light test before he took Kusama's portrait at the museum, I was stampeded by all the press outside the Vuitton store when the crowd went wild over seeing Kusama, I got to take my own portrait and lay in the grass on Pier 45 (see the photo below) and then the best moment of all. As she was leaving the Whitney and was being pushed past another person in a wheel chair she stopped as the man put out his hand. She looked at him and blushed and then asked a simple question. ARE YOU CHUCK CLOSE?

The Frick Collection Summer Party 2012

It was a perfect evening to be outdoors in the Gardens at the Frick.
This year the summer party was held in both the 5th Ave Garden and the rarely opened 70th St Garden. Just over 500 people came out to see and be seen as they sipped on Ivy Gimlets, made from Beluga Vodka.
Inspired by the location there were some fabulous hats and fascinators. I was so happy to see so many friends and familiar faces. In the crowd I spotted Loulie Walker and then I saw Lisa Volling and her husband and a big group of their friends who I met earlier this summer when I shot their wedding that Loulie so wonderfully planned for them. Next I got to say hi to Micaela English and Sam Dangremond from Town & Country Magazine

Many thanks to Heidi Roseau for all her help.
