Emilie and Patrick

Last week I had a little wedding in Connecticut. Emilie and Patrick tied the knot on a rainy day in Kent. The weather did not dampen the joy of the day. At the end of the night when Patrick was thrown into the pool Emilie jumped in to join him.

ABT Spring Gala Makes Town & Country

Have you seen the September Town & Country. I was so excited to see my photos from ABT. As always Alexis Clark did a great job on the editing.

Emmeline gets a baby brother

Last week I made a quick visit to meet the newest member of Emmeline's family. Her baby brother John was only a week old. It was dinner time for Emmeline and sleep time for the baby so I knew I didn't have long. I took photos of the baby and then when it was time to do the family together Emaline came up with the idea for her and her parents to kiss her little brother. Do we have an Director in the making? I was happy to follow her directions.
I can not tell you how happy it makes me to have the chance to photograph and document the lives of so many former brides and grooms. I hope the photos say it all.

Emily and Ventura

I had so much fun in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. Emily and Ventura took me on their own little tour of their hood and I loved it. We walked up a quiet tree lined street and into Prospect Park. After that we headed to the Brooklyn Bridge. I met them both a few month ago when James Abel their wedding designer, brought them by my studio. I was thrilled when they chose me to be their photographer. To see more photos you can click here Emily and Ventura

Ilo's 3rd Solo Show

Last night as soon as we were done with the fashion shoot (see below) I jumped on the Jitney and went out to the Talk House in Amagansett to photograph Ilo's 3rd solo show. Jimmy Buffett was there in support of his protege. Ilo rocked the joint. Before the show Jimmy took a look at the playlist and jumped on stage to join Ilo as they sang Margaritaville together. Jimmy then backed Ilo on one of his songs. The audience loved it all. At the end Ilo came out alone with his guitar and sang a Bob Marley song then the room went quiet as he sang to us in Crioulo. He has one more show on Friday at the Nimrod in Woods Hole, Ma and then he joins Jimmy on the road.

Who is She?

The party season may be over for the summer but don't think that Alexis Clark is taking a vacation. She is hard at work putting together the party pages for Town & Country's fall editions. We had such a great time this spring with so many fantastic events from New Yorkers for Children, BCRF, ABT just to name a few. As glamorous as the events she covers she is always beautifully dressed in Ralph Lauren, Angel Sanchez, Cavalli or some new designer no one has heard of yet except those in the know. You can often find her on my blog. Now you will know who she is. If you see her at a party make sure you say hello.

I just got back from Chicago where I spent Saturday night photographing the Ravinia Gala. This year as part of the evening Jessye Norman narrated "Lincoln Portrait". The weather was perfect and the park was packed. Unlike last year when it poured with rain the Gala guests arrived early to enjoy the cocktail party before the show. When Beethoven's 9th came to an end the guests headed to the tent for a delicious dinner. A special thanks to Alexandra who helped me all night and to Amy who made sure I was in the right place at the perfect time.

Flowers remind me of my childhood

It seems I never get tired of photographing flowers. When I was child I used to visit the little old lady who lived next door. I think she was probably 45 but to me as a 4 year old she seemed very old. Little she was. Not much taller than me at the time, she used to give me a trowel and a bucket and we would spend hours pulling out the weeds. She taught me about all kinds of things. She would rub mint in her hands and let me smell and taste it, she showed me how to prune hydrangeas and she told me stories about everything in the garden. I learnt that papyrus had been the first paper and that bees pollinated the flowers. There were 2 things that took me back to her garden, the roses and the rides in the wheelbarrow. Once the barrow was full Mary would take it down to the pile of cuttings on the front lawn that faced Sydney Harbour, then I climbed onto the wheelbarrow for the ride back to the garden. At the end of the day she would light a fire and we would watch all the old leaves go up in smoke as sail boats bobbed up and down on the harbour. She loved her rose gardens and also her poppy garden. One spring the poppy garden was not replanted. Years later I found out that they had been opium poppies and that she grew them because they were beautiful.

Eye Spy

People sometimes ask me where I get my inspiration. When I say everywhere, they look at me kinda funny and then I say riding the subway, or walking to work, or watching TV or any of the every day things that fill up my life.
Last week I was on the subway and when I got to Chambers St, I looked out and saw all these tiles from one end of the station to the other. I had to jump off the train and photograph them.
I just never know what I am going to see if my eyes are open.
