A Wonderful Anniversary Dinner at Lusardi's

It is a true NY love story. They met 25 years ago, set up by friends. The first date was at Lusardi's on the upper east side. To celebrate they invited over 50 of their best friends back to the restaurant to have dinner with them.
The location was perfect, the food was delicious.

Nicky from David Reinhard Events was hiding in the corner to make sure everything was just so and that all the gifts were in the right places. Everyone received a cd of loves songs carefully selected to match each persons style and taste.
And so they all gathered together to share food and good stories. I can not think of a better way to celebrate love.

Flat and Fab

Ok so I do own a pair of incredibly high Jimmy Choo shoes and no I have never actually worn them out side my front door. I have pulled them out for my girlfriends to ooh and ahhh over but that is it! I am a heel Wimp! Not so, the Brazilians that celebrated for a wedding weekend in St Barths at The Eden Rock Hotel. By night the women all put 6 inches to the test but by day I was very happy when I found my self with like minded fashonistas who brought out the flats for the beach time cocktails.

St Barths

Don't we all wish we were in St Barths right now. I just got the new issue of Town & Country and was so happy to see Ana and AJ's wedding. It reminded me just how wonderful that tiny little island is.

Inspiration

I have taken to walking to and from work. It is a 3 and a half mile trek in each direction and in the cold it has been a challenge.
I needed a way to slow down and this is it.
I have to put aside more time in my day to travel back and forward. That means less time in front of my computer and more time to allow my mind to wander.
Today I saw some words painted on a way and so I took off my gloves, dug my hand into my pocket, found my cell phone and took a shot.
It made me think about creativity and how it is so important in my life. I think the genius of the iphone camera and especially the fun camera apps are that they make us feel creative and turn everyday moments into little photo gems to make us smile, think, share or just store in cyber space. What ever the motivation and the final destination of these little fragments of time, light and space, I love being able to create something confined with boundless possibilities.

The Orchid Dinner

It was the best way to start my 2011 Gala season in NYC, The New York Botanical Gardens hosted the Annual Orchid Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on February 1st. I learnt that the Gardens are a designated Rescue Center and are involved in bringing ailing plants back to health, to make aware the illegal harvesting of endangered plants and to help prevent the extinction from over-collecting.
The real stars of the night were the orchids them selves. Each table was designed and donated by decorators and design teams.
The event was underwritten by Tiffany & Co, BNY Mellon and Veranda.
Many thanks to the staff of the Garden who found me a place to sit for dinner. It was delicious.

Parrot Heads in Sydney

It was an amazing sight seeing the Opera House full of Parrot Heads for the Jimmy Buffett concerts. Never has there been so much colour and laughter in the crowds as there was for the 2 shows he did here this week. My Mum who was at the first night was shocked at first by all the beach balls flying in the audience but by the end of the show she was doing fins to the right, fins to the left and has declared she is now a Parrot Head too.
It was great fun touring with the band and I can not wait to share some of my photos.

The Opera House

Tonight I am going to the Opera House to see The Giacomo Variations with John Malcovich. He is here in Sydney as part of the Sydney Festival. Tickets were sold out months ago but luckily for me my Mum got an extra in the hopes that I would be able to go. Thanks Mum.

Luna Park

Over looking Sydney Harbour just below the Harbour Bridge and with the best view of the Opera House and the city is Luna Park. I always make a pilgrimage to this spot and take a photo of the smily face that has always been a symbol of fun and laughter. Many childhood birthday parties were spent here with screams and shouts as we rode on the big dipper and spun on the rotalactor and slid on the slides in Coney Island, the name of the old art deco building that housed some of the games. Still in operation today, Luna park retains all its charm however some of the rides have disappeared.

A trip to Palm Beach

Yesterday I drove up north to visit Rebecca and PC.
Rebecca (or Raft as she likes to be called) has been designing and making the most amazing hand made Jewelry for years and now all her hard work is paying off.
Their company Bouvier is a not so hidden gem.
We sat on the veranda overlooking Palm Beach as she showed me her new collection. I glanced up to see a Kookaburra looking over my shoulder.
She also shared with me her little journal where she sketches a flower every day when she travels. Now I am so inspired and I am going to have to come up with a new creative idea for myself.
