Hope Funds for Cancer Research held its annual Women & Science Luncheon and Discussion on June 8th at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, RI. The event, “Changing the Game, One Breakthrough at a Time," attracted 85 guests and raised nearly $50,000 for the organization, which is dedicated to supporting research for difficult-to-treat cancers. The discussion highlighted the work of three women researchers, Drs. Jennifer Doudna, Janet Rowley, and Joan A. Steitz, and Dr. Dennis Slamon's work leading to dramatic improvements for breast cancer patients. Event chairs were the late Mrs. David S. Gordon, Gary Jobson, and Drs. Robert Johnson and Margaret Liu. Panelists include Hope Funds Alumni, Drs. Alessandra Dall'Agnese and Johanna Withers, and Hope Funds Scientific Advisors, Drs. Robert Johnson and Sohail Tavazoie.
